ABOUT

"Journalism is done with the soles of shoes..."

Egisto Corradi, journalist (1914 – 1990)

"...we walk, through the web you will be our traveling companions"

FreeReporter (2008 - …)

FreeReporter is the first multi-thematic and multilingual web platform of freelance reporters at the service of media and citizens.

We propose an innovative model to win the great challenge of contemporary journalism: unveiling, through reportages on field, those aspects which bring our globalized world close to readers’ daily life and unsatisfied right to know.

We do not run after newswires headlines, we rather anticipate, deepen or contradict them, thus turning remote problems, territories and events into original stories which provide added value and thought provoking inspiration to those who read us.

Our mission is to combine old journalism, synonymous of accuracy based on first-hand information research, with new journalism which uses the Web to accelerate and widen the dissemination of information.

We are open to collaborate with both freelance reporters and other organizations from all overthe world. We select our contributors and partners, defining with them specific agreements on the basis of the following guidelines:

  • Networking between journalists and users. FreeReporter produces contents through a network of specialized reporters who team-work at distance through web-based ITC. We identify the topics, set them into the news context and story them, looking as far as possible for bottom-up inputs and collaboration from users through appropriate tools of participatory journalism, in line with the new media landscape

  • Cross-border marketing. FreeReporter pitches and sells stories to media from different countries, targeting each pitch to the national/local readership. This allows us, on one hand, to maximize our sales and ensure a fair remuneration to time-costly investigative work and, on the other hand, to offer global visibility to crucial issues which are often ignored by the media or packed in short news

  • International cooperation. FreeReporter develops partnerships with national and foreign journalism organizations: the aim is to share information, carry on joint investigations, mutually support story submissions by promoting them among the respective media networks, work on joint publishing, training and technology initiatives in order to widespread journalism quality at international level
